Dump-Valve-05069703
Product ID: 05069703 – Pneumatic Dump Valve Assembly (Normally Open)
Description:
This component is a pneumatic dump valve assembly, specifically a normally open (NO) high-pressure water valve designed for 60,000 PSI (approximately 4,137 bar) waterjet cutting systems . It is a complete assembly that includes a pneumatic actuator cylinder, valve body, valve stem, seal assembly, valve seat, and a solenoid-operated air valve for pneumatic control . The valve is configured as normally open, meaning it remains open when no pneumatic pressure is applied, allowing high-pressure water to flow to the cutting head . When pneumatic pressure (75-125 PSIG) is supplied, the valve closes, instantly dumping high-pressure water from the system as a safety function .
This assembly serves as a critical safety device designed to instantly release high pressure from the waterjet system . Proper maintenance is imperative to prevent potential injury . The dump valve connects to the high-pressure water line between the intensifier pump and the cutting head, providing emergency pressure relief and controlled water flow shutoff.
Applications:
Used as a primary safety dump valve on 60,000 PSI waterjet cutting systems
Installed between the intensifier pump outlet and the cutting head to enable rapid pressure release during emergency stops, program pauses, or tool changes
Suitable for ultra-high pressure waterjet systems operating at 60,000 PSI (approximately 4,137 bar)
Compatible with KMT SL-series intensifier assemblies and other standard waterjet systems
Typically used in applications requiring high-cycle on/off control of high-pressure water flow
Assembly Components:
The complete dump valve assembly includes :
Pneumatic actuator cylinder (NO configuration)
Solenoid valve (24V or 110V options available)
Valve body with 1/4" bore
Valve stem (NO/NC type)
Valve seat
High-pressure seal assembly (1/4")
SST backup ring and brass backup ring
Gland nuts for 3/8" and 1/4" connections
Various O-rings and bearing disk
9/16" to 1/4" high-pressure adapter
Features:
Normally Open Configuration: Default state is open; pneumatic pressure is required to close the valve, ensuring water flow stops only when air pressure is applied
60,000 PSI Pressure Rating: Engineered for continuous ultra-high pressure operation (4,137 bar)
Complete Assembly: Includes all necessary components: actuator cylinder, solenoid valve, valve body, seals, and fittings
Pneumatic Control: Operates on standard plant air supply of 75-125 PSIG (approximately 5.2-8.6 bar)
Dual Power Options: Solenoid valve available in 110V or 24V configurations
High-Pressure Porting: HP water inlet is standard 3/8" connection; HP water outlet is reduced to standard 1/4" connection
Corrosion-Resistant Construction: Manufactured from steel with precision machining for durability in waterjet environments
Safety Device: Functions as an emergency dump valve to instantly release high pressure from the system
Maintenance:
Critical Safety Component: The high-pressure dump valve is a safety device designed to instantly release high pressure from the system. Proper maintenance is imperative to prevent potential injury .
Simultaneous Replacement: For reliable operation, the valve seat, seal assembly, brass backup ring, and stem must always be replaced at the same time. The SST backup ring can be reused .
Full Depressurization: Before servicing the dump valve, disconnect and lockout the main power supply and electrical enclosure. Ensure that all high-pressure water and hydraulic pressure has been bled from the system. Severe injury can result if the machine is not properly locked out. Observe electrical lockout/tagout procedures before proceeding .
Special Tools Required: Special seal installation tools are recommended for this procedure (refer to Figure 8-23, Pneumatic Valve Seal Tools in service manual). Failure to follow proper procedures will cause damage to the stem, valve seat, or both .
Inspection Frequency: Periodically inspect the valve for signs of external leakage, seal wear, or corrosion. Replace components if leaks are detected.
Solenoid Valve Check: Verify the solenoid valve operates correctly at the specified voltage (24V or 110V). Check electrical connections for corrosion or loose terminals.
Air Supply Quality: Ensure clean, dry, lubricated compressed air supply at 75-125 PSIG. Contaminated air can cause internal corrosion or seal damage.
Functional Testing: After maintenance, slowly pressurize the system and test the dump valve function repeatedly to ensure complete water flow stoppage when closed and no leakage when closed.
Replacement Criteria: Replace the dump valve assembly if the valve body is cracked, threads are damaged, internal erosion is excessive, or if repeated seal failures occur despite proper maintenance.
Component Note: This dump valve assembly replaces OEM part numbers including 103811 and is compatible with KMT 60K systems .
