10187250
Product ID: 10187250 – SST Backup Ring / High-Pressure Seal Gasket
Description:
This component is a stainless steel (SST) backup ring, also known as a high-pressure seal gasket or metal sealing ring, designed for waterjet cutting systems . It is a precision-machined metal ring that serves as an anti-extrusion support component within high-pressure sealing assemblies. The backup ring is installed adjacent to an O-ring or elastomeric seal to prevent seal extrusion into clearance gaps under ultra-high pressure conditions .
This component is manufactured by AccuStream (KMT Waterjet Systems) under OEM part number 10187250 and is cross-referenced as production number 1-12733 . It is rated for maximum working pressure of 4,100 bar (approximately 60,000 PSI) and is constructed from corrosion-resistant stainless steel .
Applications:
Used as a backup ring within high-pressure sealing assemblies in waterjet intensifier pumps and pneumatic on/off valves
Installed adjacent to O-rings in the sealing head assembly, high-pressure cylinder, check valve assemblies, and dump valve components
Suitable for ultra-high pressure waterjet systems operating at 60,000 PSI (approximately 4,100 bar)
Compatible with KMT, AccuStream, SL-VI series pumps, and other standard waterjet intensifier systems
Features:
Stainless Steel Construction: Manufactured from SST material offering excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and durability in harsh waterjet environments
4,100 Bar Pressure Rating: Engineered for continuous operation at 60,000 PSI without deformation or extrusion failure
Precision-Machined: Produced with high dimensional accuracy using CNC machining and three-dimensional measurement inspection
Anti-Extrusion Function: Functions as a rigid barrier, preventing the softer O-ring material from being forced into clearance gaps under ultra-high pressure
High Fatigue Resistance: Manufactured with advanced heat treatment processes (solution double-aging) and high-pressure bore mirror finishing to increase metal fatigue resistance
Corrosion and Wear Protection: Surface treatment provides enhanced durability and extended service life in waterjet operating environments
OEM Compatibility: Direct replacement part for KMT AccuStream systems
Maintenance:
Critical Wear Component: The backup ring is a consumable part that should be replaced whenever the associated O-ring or primary seal is replaced. Do not reuse a backup ring that shows signs of permanent compression set, splitting, deformation, or edge damage
Inspection: During seal replacement or pump overhaul, inspect the backup ring for signs of cracking, wear, extrusion damage, or loss of dimensional integrity. Even minor damage warrants replacement
Orientation: When installing, place the backup ring on the low-pressure side of the O-ring or primary seal unless specified otherwise in the equipment service manual
Groove Inspection: Before installing a new backup ring, ensure the corresponding internal groove in the cylinder bore or sealing head is clean, smooth, and free from burrs, nicks, or damage that could compromise the seal
Surface Preparation: Clean all sealing surfaces thoroughly with a soft cloth and low-pressure water. Remove all debris, old seal residue, and mineral deposits. Do not use abrasive tools that could scratch sealing surfaces
Lubrication: Apply manufacturer-recommended high-pressure grease to the backup ring and O-ring during installation to prevent pinching, rolling, or damage during assembly
Full Depressurization: Always fully depressurize both the hydraulic system and the high-pressure water system before disassembling any component containing backup rings. Follow lockout/tagout procedures
Do Not Use Alone: Never install a backup ring without its corresponding O-ring or primary seal, as the backup ring alone does not provide sealing function
Storage: Store spare backup rings in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight, ozone, or harsh chemicals to prevent material degradation
