Maintenance:

  • Critical Wear Component: The backup ring is a consumable part that should be replaced whenever the associated O-ring or primary seal is replaced. Do not reuse a backup ring that shows signs of permanent compression set, splitting, deformation, or edge damage

  • Inspection: During seal replacement or pump overhaul, inspect the backup ring for signs of cracking, wear, extrusion damage, or loss of dimensional integrity. Even minor damage warrants replacement
