10078038-Cross-38-Waterjet-Cutter-Pump-Parts.936.3-1
Product Name: High-Pressure Cross Fitting (3/8″) – Part No. 10078038
Description:
This component is a high-pressure cross fitting, a four-way hydraulic connector specifically designed for waterjet cutting systems. It features 3/8 inch high-pressure connection ports on all four ends, creating a cruciform junction that allows a single high-pressure water line to be split into three separate outlet paths or to serve as a central distribution hub for intensifier manifolds and cutting head plumbing .
The cross fitting is precision-machined from high-strength stainless steel (304/316) and features industry-standard 60-degree cone sealing surfaces for reliable metal-to-metal sealing . This design provides a blowout-proof, vibration-resistant seal capable of withstanding the extreme pressure cycling inherent in waterjet operation. The fitting is rated for continuous operation at 60,000–100,000 PSI (approximately 4,137–6,894 bar) .
Cross fittings are commonly used in intensifier pump assemblies to distribute high-pressure water to multiple intensifier cylinders, in accumulator systems for pressure smoothing, and in manifold blocks for routing water to multiple cutting heads . The symmetrical four-port design offers versatile plumbing configurations and is compatible with standard 3/8″ high-pressure tubing, gland nuts, and coned inserts.
Applications:
Serves as a central distribution hub for high-pressure water in intensifier pump manifolds and accumulator assemblies
Splits a single high-pressure water supply line to feed multiple cutting heads or system branches
Creates a four-way junction for high-pressure instrumentation, gauge ports, or bleed-down circuits
Used in complex hydraulic layouts requiring multidirectional flow distribution
Suitable for 60,000-100,000 PSI (approximately 4,137-6,894 bar) ultra-high pressure waterjet systems
Compatible with KMT, FLOW, BFT, WSI, APW, and other standard waterjet systems
Features:
4-Way (Cross) Configuration: Four 3/8″ high-pressure ports for versatile fluid branching and distribution
High-Pressure Rating: Engineered for continuous operation at 60,000–100,000 PSI (4,137–6,894 bar)
Stainless Steel Construction: Precision-machined from seamless 304/316 stainless steel for exceptional strength, corrosion resistance, and fatigue durability
60-Degree Cone Sealing Surfaces: Precision-machined cone seats guarantee reliable metal-to-metal sealing with standard HP fittings, gland nuts, and coned inserts
Leak-Free Design: Maintains seal integrity under pressure fluctuations and mechanical vibration
Compact Junction Point: Efficiently routes pressure lines to manifolds, gauges, and other UHP components
Direct OEM Replacement: Interchangeable with industry-standard 3/8″ cross fittings for major waterjet systems
Maintenance:
Failure Diagnosis:
External Water Leakage: Visible water weeping from any of the four ports or the fitting body indicates a failed cone seal, damaged threads, or improper torque. All high-pressure leaks must be repaired immediately
Thread Damage: Stripped, galled, or cross-threaded ports prevent proper tightening and will cause high-pressure leaks
Cone Seat Damage: Nicks, galling, pitting, or deformation on any of the four 60-degree cone sealing surfaces will compromise the seal
Cracked or Deformed Body: Any visible cracking or distortion of the stainless steel body warrants immediate replacement
Internal Erosion: Over time, cavitation or contamination can erode internal passages, leading to pressure drop or turbulence
Inspection and Replacement Guidelines:
Full Depressurization (Critical): Before any maintenance, place the main electrical disconnect in the OFF position, bleed down all high-pressure water and hydraulic lines, and follow lockout/tagout procedures. Never service a pressurized HP line
Port Inspection: Before installation, thoroughly inspect all four ports' threads and cone seats for nicks, galling, or deformation. Examine the fitting body for cracks or corrosion
Cone Seat Refurbishment: Inspect tubing cones and fitting cone seats for damage. Replace worn cones, glands, and collars whenever a high-pressure joint has been disturbed
Thread Cleaning: Clean all threads thoroughly with a soft brush and compatible solvent. Remove all debris, old sealant, and mineral deposits
Lubrication: Apply a thin, even layer of high-pressure anti-seize lubricant (e.g., "Blue Goop" or "Silver Grade") to the male threads of the mating gland nuts only. Do not apply lubricant to the cone sealing surfaces
Torque Compliance (Critical): Use a calibrated torque wrench to tighten all four gland nuts to the torque values specified in the equipment service manual . Over-tightening can damage threads or cone seats; under-tightening will cause leaks
Two-Wrench Method: Use two wrenches — one to counter-hold the cross body and one to tighten the gland nut — to prevent twisting stress on the assembly
Proper Seating: Ensure HP tubing and coned inserts are fully seated in each port before applying final torque
Replace Worn Components: When disassembling a high-pressure joint, it is standard practice to replace the cone, gland, and collar if they show signs of wear
Replacement Criteria: Replace the cross fitting immediately if threads are damaged, cone seats are pitted or deformed, cracks are visible, or persistent leakage occurs despite correct installation. Do not attempt to repair a cracked or severely eroded cross body
Storage: Store spare cross fittings in a clean, dry environment to protect precision threads and cone sealing surfaces
