400009-1-Elbow-HP.1978.1
Product Name: High-Pressure Elbow / HP 90° Elbow (1/4", 60K) – Part No. 400009-1
Description:
The HP Elbow 400009-1 is a precision-engineered 90-degree high-pressure fitting designed for waterjet cutting systems operating at 60,000 PSI (approximately 4,137 bar). It is a compact, angle-style stainless steel connector specifically configured for 1/4 inch high-pressure tubing. This fitting includes the complete assembly: the elbow body, the high-pressure collar, and the 1/4" gland nut.
As a critical component in the ultra-high pressure (UHP) plumbing network, this elbow allows for a smooth 90-degree directional change of the water flow. Its compact design is essential for efficient routing in tight spaces within the pump manifold or around the cutting head assembly, helping to reduce stress on connections and minimize vibration-related wear.
Applications:
Directional Plumbing: Redirecting the high-pressure water flow by 90 degrees between the intensifier pump, on/off valve, and the cutting head.
Space Management: Facilitating efficient hose and tube routing in the confined areas of the machine's Z-axis or pump cabinet.
System Integration: Connecting various high-pressure components such as manifolds, accumulators, and check valves.
Cross-Brand Compatibility: Fully interchangeable with major waterjet systems including KMT, AccuStream, H2O Jet, FLOW, WSI, and OMAX.
Features:
High-Strength Material: Machined from premium corrosion-resistant stainless steel to withstand the extreme cyclic stresses of 60K operation.
Complete Assembly: Supplied as a ready-to-install unit that includes the elbow body, high-pressure collar, and gland nut.
Precision Sealing: Features a machined 60-degree cone seat for a reliable, leak-free metal-to-metal seal under high pressure and vibration.
Thread Compatibility: Typically features standard 9/16-18 UNF high-pressure threads, facilitating connection to 1/4 inch tubing systems.
Durable & Reusable: Designed for long service life; can be reused across multiple maintenance cycles if threads and sealing surfaces remain undamaged.
Maintenance:
Inspection & Handling:
Visual Inspection: Before installation, thoroughly inspect the elbow body, threads, and the 60-degree cone sealing surface for any nicks, galling, corrosion, or cracks. Damaged surfaces will compromise the high-pressure seal and must be replaced immediately.
Surface Wear: Check the external surfaces for signs of fretting or abrasion where the fitting may contact machine components.
Installation Best Practices:
Full Depressurization (Critical): Before any maintenance or disassembly, always fully depressurize the waterjet system (high-pressure water, hydraulic system, and air supply) and follow lockout/tagout procedures.
Thread Lubrication: Apply a thin, even layer of high-pressure anti-seize compound (e.g., "Silver Grade" or "Blue Goop") to the male threads of the gland nut only. Do not apply lubricant to the cone sealing surfaces, as this can impede the metal-to-metal seal.
Torque Compliance: Tighten the gland nut to the specific torque value listed in your equipment service manual. Use two wrenches (one to counter-hold the elbow body) to prevent twisting stress on the fitting.
Proper Assembly: Ensure the high-pressure tubing is fully bottomed out in the fitting and the cone is correctly seated before applying final torque.
