014155-10 – Diamond Orifice / Diamond Nozzle (Aotufo Style)
Product ID: 014155-10 – Diamond Orifice / Diamond Nozzle (Aotufo Style)
Description:
This component is a diamond orifice assembly, also known as a diamond nozzle or water nozzle, specifically designed for Aotufo style abrasive waterjet cutting heads. It is a precision-engineered consumable component that creates the initial ultra-high-pressure waterjet before it enters the mixing chamber where abrasive is added. The assembly consists of a stainless steel housing with a polycrystalline diamond (PCD) or natural diamond orifice diaphragm with a laser-drilled microscopic hole.
This part number corresponds to an orifice diameter of 0.010 inches (0.25 mm) and features a standard 12.45 mm outer diameter with 6.5 mm height, making it compatible with universal waterjet cutting head assemblies. The diamond construction provides exceptional wear resistance, offering a service life significantly longer than standard sapphire or ruby orifices. It is rated for continuous operation at 60,000 PSI (approximately 4,137 bar).
Applications:
Used in abrasive waterjet cutting machines to generate the initial high-pressure waterjet before abrasive mixing
Installed in the upper section of the cutting head assembly, positioned above the mixing chamber and wear insert
Suitable for ultra-high pressure waterjet systems operating at 60,000 PSI (approximately 4,137 bar)
Compatible with Aotufo and universal waterjet cutting head assemblies
Features:
Diamond Orifice Material: Manufactured with polycrystalline diamond (PCD) or natural diamond, offering superior hardness and wear resistance compared to sapphire or ruby orifices
Precision Laser-Drilled Orifice: Laser-drilled microscopic orifice creates an extremely precise, coherent waterjet for optimal cutting performance
Extended Service Life: Diamond construction provides service life up to 10–20 times longer than standard sapphire orifices, reducing downtime and maintenance frequency
60,000 PSI Rating: Rated for continuous operation at 60,000 PSI (4,137 bar)
Standard Dimensions: 12.45 mm outer diameter × 6.5 mm height with 0.010 inch (0.25 mm) orifice diameter
Universal Compatibility: Compatible with Aotufo and other standard waterjet cutting head assemblies
Maintenance:
Water Quality Critical: Dirty, hard, or inadequately filtered water can damage the diamond orifice chip, causing irregular and divergent waterjet flow. Regularly replace water filtration equipment to protect the orifice
Visual Inspection: Before each operation, observe the waterjet at low pressure. The water stream should be symmetrical and coherent. Diamond nozzle streams are narrower and more coherent than ruby/sapphire streams. If the stream begins to widen or becomes divergent, the nozzle is damaged and requires immediate replacement
Installation Precautions: Before installing a new orifice, thoroughly clean the cutting head assembly to ensure no debris or contaminants are present. Test the waterjet separately after installation to verify proper alignment
Orifice to Mixing Tube Ratio: For optimal cutting performance and extended mixing tube life, maintain a 1:3 diameter ratio between the orifice and mixing tube. For a 0.010 inch (0.25 mm) orifice, use a 0.030 inch (0.76 mm) mixing tube
Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the orifice for signs of wear, erosion, or diameter enlargement using a magnifying glass or microscope. Even minor damage will affect jet coherence and cutting performance
Cleaning: If blockage is suspected, use only methods recommended for diamond orifices. Never force metal objects through the orifice
Replacement Criteria: Replace the diamond orifice when cut quality degrades (rougher edge finish, slower cutting speed, increased kerf width), when visible wear is observed, or when waterjet becomes divergent
Storage: Store spare diamond orifices in a clean, dry, protective container to prevent dust contamination or physical damage to the delicate diamond surface
Full Depressurization: Always fully depressurize the waterjet system before removing or servicing the orifice assembly. Follow lockout/tagout procedures
Torque Compliance: When installing, tighten the retaining cap to the specific torque value listed in the equipment service manual. Over-tightening may crack the diamond orifice while under-tightening may cause high-pressure leaks
