Product Name: Suction Strainer / Tank Return Line Filter, 2-1/2 NPT – Part No. 606115-40

Description:
This component is a suction strainer (tank return line filter) with a 2-1/2 inch NPT port connection. It is a coarse filtration device installed on the hydraulic pump suction line inside the reservoir of a waterjet cutting system.

Its primary function is to protect the hydraulic pump from large contaminants as the first line of defense. It captures metal chips, debris, and particles before they enter the pump, preventing immediate damage and ensuring a clean oil supply to the high-pressure intensifier.

Applications:

  • Primary filtration for hydraulic fluid entering the pump suction line.

  • Protecting the hydraulic pump and high-pressure intensifier from debris.

  • Serviced during hydraulic oil changes or scheduled maintenance.

Features:

  • Coarse Filtration: Designed to capture large particles without restricting essential suction flow.

  • Reusable Construction: Typically features a metal mesh screen, allowing for cleaning and reuse.

  • Standard Port: 2-1/2 NPT male thread for secure installation into the pump inlet.

  • Large Capacity: Designed for high-flow hydraulic systems common on larger industrial waterjet pumps.

Maintenance:
This is typically a cleanable, reusable component. The standard maintenance procedure is as follows:

  1. Preparation: Drain the hydraulic oil or lower the oil level below the strainer.

  2. Removal: Disconnect the suction line and unbolt the strainer assembly.

  3. Soaking: Soak the strainer element in a cleaning solvent such as kerosene for approximately 15 minutes.

  4. Cleaning: Use a soft bristle brush to gently remove debris from the mesh screen. Do not use a wire brush, which could damage the mesh.

  5. Rinsing & Drying: Rinse with clean solvent and dry thoroughly with compressed air.

  6. Reassembly: Reinstall the cleaned strainer and refill the reservoir with fresh hydraulic oil.

  7. Inspection: If the screen is torn, corroded, or heavily clogged beyond cleaning, replace the strainer immediately.

Inspection Schedule:

  • Check the filter clogging indicator; replace/clean immediately if indicated.

  • Always clean or replace this strainer during routine hydraulic oil changes.

  • Generally recommended to check during scheduled preventive maintenance (every 500–1000 hours).
