Details

Product Name: Rubber Bumper / Abrasive Metering Valve Seal (Part No. 400094-1)

Description:
This component is a rubber bumper, a dedicated seal and actuation component used in the abrasive metering valve (often called the mini-hopper or pinch valve) of a waterjet cutting system . It is positioned between the air actuator and the abrasive outlet port. When the air actuator is engaged, it pushes this rubber bumper forward to seal the outlet, stopping the flow of garnet. When the air supply is released, the bumper retracts, allowing the abrasive to flow from the hopper to the mixing tube. Made from wear-resistant elastomer, it is engineered to withstand constant pinching and the abrasive flow.

Applications:

  • Sealing and controlling the on/off cycle of abrasive flow in the mini-hopper or metering valve assembly .

  • Acting as the primary seal to prevent abrasive leakage when the cutting jet is turned off.

  • Suitable for H2O Jet, AccuStream, and Flow-style abrasive delivery systems .

Features:

  • Critical Wear Component: Subject to wear over time; must be replaced if the abrasive does not stop flowing or if the valve fails to open .

  • Direct Actuation: Activated directly by the air cylinder rod to physically block the abrasive passage .

  • Simple Replacement: Designed to be changed out without replacing the entire air actuator or hopper assembly .

  • Cross-Reference: Equivalent to AccuStream part 1-12894 and Flow part A-11073 .

Maintenance:

  • Replace if Abrasive Flow Fails to Stop: If abrasive continues to trickle out of the cutting head when the water is off, the rubber bumper is likely worn and needs replacement .

  • Check for Sticking: If the abrasive flow is slow to start or stop, the bumper may be worn or obstructed .

  • Replacement Procedure:

    1. Fully depressurize the waterjet system and shut off the air supply to the hopper.

    2. Remove the top plate of the mini-hopper.

    3. Remove the worn rubber bumper from the actuator extension rod.

    4. Apply a drop of thread lock to the new bumper threads and install it onto the extension rod .

    5. Reassemble the top plate, ensuring the rubber bumper centers over the abrasive outlet port.

  • Full Depressurization: Always shut off the air supply and bleed the system pressure before replacing this component to prevent unintended actuation.
