05034798-Snap-Ring
Product ID: 05034798 – Snap Ring / Retaining Ring (Internal)
Description:
This component is a snap ring, also known as a retaining ring or circlip, designed for high-pressure waterjet intensifier pumps and hydraulic cylinder assemblies. It is a circular fastener manufactured from spring-tempered steel, featuring an open-ended design that allows it to be compressed for installation into a machined internal groove within a cylinder bore or housing. The snap ring functions as a mechanical stop, retaining components such as seals, bearings, pistons, or cylinder heads in their proper axial position.
Applications:
Used in waterjet cutting intensifier pumps and hydraulic cylinders to retain internal components such as cylinder heads, seal assemblies, pistons, or bearing races.
Installed into precision-machined internal grooves within the hydraulic cylinder bore or valve housing.
Suitable for ultra-high pressure waterjet systems operating at 55,000–60,000 PSI (approximately 3,800–4,137 bar) and compatible with SL-IV, SL-V, Classic series, and OEM intensifier assemblies.
Features:
Manufactured from spring-tempered carbon steel or stainless steel for high tensile strength, fatigue resistance, and durability under cyclic loading.
Precision-stamped or wire-formed to exact dimensions for consistent fit within standard groove specifications.
Open-end design with lug holes for installation using standard snap ring pliers.
Provides reliable axial retention without requiring additional fasteners or threading.
Corrosion-resistant surface treatment such as zinc plating or passivation for extended service life in wet operating environments.
Designed to withstand the axial forces generated during high-pressure reciprocating motion without dislodging or deforming.
Maintenance:
Proper Tooling: Always use the correct size and type of snap ring pliers designed for internal retaining rings to avoid distorting the ring during removal or installation.
Inspection: Before reuse, inspect the snap ring for signs of deformation, bending, twisting, cracking, corrosion, or loss of spring tension.
Groove Inspection: Check the corresponding internal groove inside the cylinder bore or housing for wear, burrs, nicks, or damage that could affect proper seating of the snap ring.
Replacement Criteria: Replace any snap ring that shows signs of permanent deformation, cracking, fatigue, or corrosion. Do not attempt to re-use a damaged snap ring.
Full Seating: During installation, ensure the snap ring is fully and evenly seated in its groove. Partial seating may cause component failure under pressure.
Full Depressurization: Always fully depressurize both the hydraulic system and the high-pressure water system before disassembling any component secured by a snap ring.
Do Not Over-Expand: Avoid stretching a snap ring beyond its designed working range; over-expansion can cause loss of retaining force or permanent deformation.
Replacement Recommendation: When replacing seals or other internal components during pump overhaul, install a new snap ring as a best practice to ensure reliable retention.
