05116561-HP-Poppet
Product ID: 05116561 – HP Poppet / Outlet Poppet (Check Valve Component)
Description:
This component is a high-pressure (HP) poppet, also known as an outlet poppet or check valve stem, designed for waterjet intensifier pumps . It is a precision-machined, stem-like sealing component that serves as the moving element within the high-pressure check valve assembly. The poppet works in conjunction with the HP seat to create a leak-tight, one-way seal, controlling the flow of pressurized water from the intensifier cylinder to the outlet manifold . This poppet is specifically designed for the outlet (discharge) side of the check valve and is rated for ultra-high pressure operation . Alternative or cross-reference part numbers include 1-12721, 10107901, 0511656-1, and 05016561 . This component is also referred to as the high-pressure one-way valve stem .
Applications:
Used as the outlet (discharge) check valve poppet within the high-pressure check valve assembly of waterjet intensifier pumps .
Installed in the check valve body, positioned against the HP seat (Product ID 05112768), sealing under pressure to prevent reverse water flow from the outlet line back into the intensifier cylinder .
Suitable for ultra-high pressure waterjet systems operating at 60,000 PSI (approximately 4,137 bar), compatible with intensifier pumps using a flat seat check valve design .
Features:
Constructed from high-strength, wear-resistant, and corrosion-resistant material (typically hardened stainless steel or specialized alloy) to withstand repeated impact against the valve seat and high-velocity water flow .
Precision-ground sealing surface ensures a leak-tight shut-off when mated with the corresponding HP seat .
Engineered as a consumable component; the poppet is designed to wear over time while protecting the more expensive check valve body .
Designed specifically for use with flat outlet poppet seats .
Provides reliable one-way flow control under extreme pressure cycling conditions .
Maintenance:
Critical Wear Component: The HP poppet is a high-wear consumable part . If the poppet sealing surface is damaged or worn, the machine will experience pressure drop or inability to maintain rated cutting pressure .
Inspection: During check valve or intensifier overhaul, inspect the poppet sealing surface for pitting, erosion, cracking, indentation, or mushrooming caused by repeated impact against the seat . Even minor surface damage can cause pressure loss .
Replacement Criteria: Replace the HP poppet immediately if any surface damage is visible . A worn or damaged poppet will prevent the check valve from sealing properly, leading to pressure drop, reduced cutting performance, and increased pump cycle times .
Simultaneous Seat Replacement: Always replace the corresponding HP seat simultaneously with the poppet . Reusing a worn seat with a new poppet (or vice versa) will compromise sealing and shorten the life of both components .
Water Quality Impact: Poor water quality (contaminants, hardness) accelerates wear on both the poppet and seat . If these components require replacement too frequently, investigate and improve water filtration/treatment .
Full Depressurization: Always fully depressurize the waterjet system and follow lockout/tagout procedures before removing the check valve assembly or replacing the HP poppet .
Kit Replacement: This poppet is commonly available as part of check valve repair kits, which may include the poppet, seat, spring, and other required components for a complete valve overhaul .
